Substance abuse is increasingly prevalent in the United States, and Tennessee has been hit especially hard by an epidemic of opioid abuse. In 2017, more than 1,700 Tennesseans died of an overdose — more than the number of traffic fatalities, homicides, or suicides last year. Nearly all of us have been affected by substance abuse, whether struggling with it personally, or knowing someone who has. However, far fewer people know where to turn to get help on finding treatment for substance abuse disorders.
Help.org is a free website that provides education on substance abuse and connects users with more information on seeking treatment. We are partnering with them for our Health Spotlight this week to deliver this information to you.
